Gutter Cleaning

Residential gutter cleaning is our core service and we can provide gutter cleaning for the majority of types of property within the Huddersfield area.

The short video above gives you a simple introduction into the methods we use for gutter cleaning, which is primarily done from the safety of the ground using a powerful gutter vacuum system. If you're worried that these vacuum systems don't provide enough suction to lift up dirt/moss/stones/grass/roof tiles etc that are often found within gutters then please watch the entire video!

These are not your ordinary style of vacuum cleaners that have been modified to work with gutter cleaning poles, we use industrial strength gutter vac systems with remote wireless camera systems that have been specifically created for the purpose of gutter cleaning and clearing.

Keeping your gutters clean and clear is also vital to prevent potential future problems such as leaking gutters, mould ingress, damage to your roof and fascias and the build up of bird and bug nests. By having your gutters cleaned regularly, you are potentially saving yourself thousands of pounds later down the line by not having to carry out these expensive repairs.

Good reasons to have your gutters cleaned...

Regular maintenance of gutters can be a requirement of your home insurance policy. See what a few well known insurance companies have to say on the matter:

  • Aviva say:

“Property Insurance is designed to indemnify for any losses or damage directly caused by the insured perils specified in the policy. Normal wear and tear is a specific exclusion of most insurance contracts and many claims are rejected on the basis that damage was more directly caused by poor maintenance rather than by an insured peril. Insurance should never be seen as an alternative to good risk management.

Routine, ongoing and preventative maintenance will not only help keep a property in a good state of repair but will also help make a property more resilient to potential losses. Neglecting routine building maintenance will often result in the need for costly and more disruptive remedial work.”

  • Confused.com say:

“If your home is damaged from water overflowing from a blocked gutter, your insurer may turn down a claim because you should have kept your gutters clear.”

  • Churchill say:

“Poor upkeep could also seriously affect your claim if the insurer decides that maintenance would have prevented the problem from occurring. That’s why you need to keep your home in tiptop shape, giving it a full MOT after the winter months especially, checking for blocked gutters and loose tiles on the roof.”

Gutter Cleaning FAQs...

What does it cost to have my gutters cleaned?

  • This generally depends on the height of the gutters and the length. For example a 2 storey house would likely be charged somewhere between £4-5 per metre of guttering. We can usually quote for gutter cleaning from viewing your property on Google Maps as there is a measurement function. See the picture below as an example.

How often should I have my gutters cleaned?

  • This really can depend on where you live and what kinds of vegetation you have around you. For example, if your home is near a lot of trees/dense vegetation or you have a lot of moss on your roof then you will likely need your gutters cleaned at least once perhaps twice a year. If you live somewhere without a lot of plant life nearby then it is a good idea to have your gutters inspected annually and cleaned on an ad-hoc basis, perhaps every other year.

What areas do you cover?

  • We cover all Huddersfield post codes for our gutter cleaning service, however if you are not within a HDx postcode and wish us to quote then do still get in touch.

What methods of gutter clearing are best?

  • The safest method is using a vacuum system from ground level which can tackle the vast majority of gutter cleaning work. In the odd exception the gutters require cleaning by hand we would recommend accessing the gutters via a cherry picker or some other type of mechanical lift. This is because it's not entirely safe to be forcefully pulling up dirt that is stuck in gutters on a ladder and can easily destabilise a ladder

What is not included during a gutter clean?

  • Gutter cleaning is designed to remove the debris that has fallen off your roof and entered your gutter system. Sometimes, if you have gone an exceptionally long time between gutter cleanings this debris can build up all the way through your downpipe and into the sewage waster water system underground. The service we provide is designed to clear the debris at a high level and we do not provide a drain cleaning service, if you require that service we recommend you contact a drain unblocking specialist.
